Since the launch of the Electric Car Grant, consumer demand for new EVs on Autotrader has seen a significant uptick and when eligible models are announced, advert views for these cars surge by up 10 times. Affordability is the biggest barrier to electric adoption, but we can see these grants are reducing that for many drivers and helping to ensure there’s an EV for everyone. The government’s latest step to tighten the eligibility criteria and introduce a top-level cap for eligible variants is a positive step as it means that more people who genuinely need support will be able to access the grant.
