Victory for voltage as Kia Niro tops November list of hottest used cars selling two weeks faster than market average

  • Taking just 26 days to leave forecourts, electric vehicles are the fastest selling fuel type for the second consecutive month: 3-5-year-old models taking just 22 days.
  • 90% of the of the top ten this month are alternatively fuelled.
  • Kia Niro takes gold as the fastest selling used car, selling in just 13 days on average so far in November.

28th November 2025, London – According to the latest data from Autotrader, the UK’s largest automotive platform, the all-electric Kia Niro (3-5 years) is currently the UK’s fastest-selling used car, taking on average just 13 days to leave retailers’ forecourts. It’s more than twice as fast as the current November used car average of 32 days, which is consistent with the usual seasonal slowdown – used cars took an average of 32 days to sell during the same period last year.

Underpinning the strong consumer appetite for electric vehicles (EVs), the Niro is joined by a further six electric cars on this month’s list of fastest sellers, including the Nissan Leaf (electric, 3-5 years) and the Hyundai KONA (electric, 3-5 years) in second and third respectively. For the second consecutive month, electric is the fastest selling fuel type overall in November, with the average model selling within 26 days, down from 28 days in October and 29 days in September 2025.

Moreover, alternatively fuelled vehicles (AFV) are dominating the hottest used cars this November, making up 90% of the top ten. Interestingly, the only petrol vehicle to remain in the rankings was also from the Korean manufacturer, the Kia Picanto (petrol, 1-3 years) which has landed in seventh place, selling in 20 days on average this month. Overall, following electric, petrol has dropped to the third fastest selling fuel type (selling in 32 days), putting plug-in-hybrid in second place (selling in 31 days).

Reflecting the highly nuanced supply and demand dynamics in the used car market, a more granular look at the data reveals that ‘middle-aged’ EVs (aged 3-5-years-old) continue to sell faster than any other segment, selling in just 22 days on average so far this November. In fact, nearly all the models in the top ten fall within the 3 to 5-year-old age bracket. Conversely, the used cars lingering on forecourts the longest are the youngest, with those ‘nearly new’ (aged up to 1 year) taking on average 35 days to shift.

It’s great to see car buyers continue to move towards used EVs; the Niro’s position at the top of our rankings, and the dominance of AFVs this month, really underlines how fast the market is maturing and the opportunity for retailers. This is mirrored in broader industry data which shows used EV sales have enjoyed record uptake and rapidly increased market share over recent months."

“The message is clear; electric vehicles, particularly ‘middle-aged’ models, open up affordable and clean motoring as well as a path to profit. While the overall market pace has slowed to a seasonal average, capitalising on the sustained EV momentum by stocking the right models and pricing them accurately using data, will be critical as we approach the end of the year.”
